The football stadium was not a place of detention; imprisoned girls/women from other institutions were brought to the stadium and raped there. A survivor now living in Australia testified: ‘Around 12 August 1992, the evening before my release, two soldiers took me and another girl to the city’s stadium.

A large group of soldiers were waiting for us there, mostly Montenegrins and soldiers from Serbia. That night I don’t know how many soldiers raped me on the stadium benches. The others stood and watched everything. I had fainted. That same night they took us to Buk Bijela, and the soldiers raped us there again...’
